Modern slavery statement

Our commitment to preventing modern slavery and human trafficking in our business and supply chains.

Our commitment

Sowers Recruitment Ltd has a zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery and human trafficking. Recruitment sits at a point of genuine risk: agencies deal directly with people who may be vulnerable to exploitation, particularly in temporary and lower-paid work, and we take that responsibility seriously.

Our business

We are a UK recruitment agency and employment business supplying permanent and temporary staff across healthcare and social care, finance and accountancy, office and business support, sales and marketing, IT and technology, and industrial and logistics. We operate solely in the United Kingdom.

The risks we watch for

  • Multiple candidate registrations sharing a bank account, address or phone number
  • A third party controlling a candidate's communications, or accompanying them and answering for them
  • Candidates unable to describe the role or the pay they have supposedly agreed to
  • Reluctance or inability to produce identity documents that the candidate themself controls
  • Signs of coaching, distress, or a candidate whose account changes when they are alone

What we do about it

  • We verify every candidate's identity and right to work in person or by verified digital check, meeting the individual themselves
  • We pay workers directly into an account in their own name, and query any request to divert payment elsewhere
  • We state pay rates openly in every advert so a worker can see what they should be receiving
  • We train consultants to recognise the indicators above and to escalate rather than proceed
  • We never charge a work-seeker a fee, in any form, for finding them work

Reporting a concern

If you have any concern about exploitation connected to our business, contact us at hello@sowersrecruitment.co.uk or 0330 000 0000 and we will act on it. You can also contact the Modern Slavery Helpline on 08000 121 700, or the Gangmasters and Labour Abuse Authority. In an emergency, call 999.
